The countdown has officially entered its final year. Twelve months from today, the Open Masters Games Como Lake 2027 will open across three of Lombardy’s most beautiful cities, welcoming masters athletes from every corner of the globe to the shores of one of Italy’s most iconic lakes.
From 17 to 26 September 2027, Como, Varese and Lecco will come together as one host region for ten days of competition, celebration and friendship. The Games are open to athletes aged 30 and over, of every level and background, and bring together a broad multisport program set against lakes, mountains and historic city centres. Local estimates foresee up to 12’000 athletes and companions arriving in the region.
A return to Lombardy
For World Masters Sport, Como2027 marks a proud homecoming. In January 2024, the region hosted the Winter World Masters Games Lombardia 2024, and the relationships built then have grown into a strong partnership with Regione Lombardia and the three host municipalities.
“One year from today, masters athletes from around the world will gather on the shores of Lake Como. It is a return to Lombardy for World Masters Sport. Italy has a culture where sport, food, family and friendship belong together, and that is exactly what the Open Masters Games are about. Three cities, one lake region
Each host city brings its own character to the Games. Como offers its elegant lakefront and landmarks such as the Tempio Voltiano. Varese welcomes athletes with its gardens, green hills and the grandeur of Palazzo Estense. Lecco, framed by dramatic peaks, sets the stage for outdoor and mountain sports, with a line-up that includes archery, athletics, badminton, climbing, duathlon, triathlon, five-a-side football, mountain biking, skyrunning and tennis.
Beyond the venues, athletes and their families can look forward to Italian hospitality at its finest: lakeside evenings, regional cuisine, and a festival atmosphere that turns every competition day into a shared celebration.

With one year to go, now is the ideal moment for athletes, clubs and teams to plan their journey to Lake Como. Early planning makes it easier to secure travel and accommodation in this popular destination, and gives everyone time to build their training towards September 2027.
