World Masters Games Kansai 2027 has re-opened registrations for several sports following a significant expansion in athlete capacity.
We are thrilled to announce that more than 30,000 athletes have now registered for Kansai 2027, marking an extraordinary milestone in the history of masters sport. This is the first time in the history of the World Masters Games that registrations have surpassed the 30,000-athlete mark, a testament to the growing global passion for masters-level competition and the enduring spirit of athletes who refuse to stop.
President Sergii Bubka shares his excitement: “This is a defining moment for masters sport globally. More than 30,000 athletes registering for a single Games sends a clear message to the world: people want to stay active, stay competitive, and stay connected, regardless of age. At World Masters Sport, our mission is to make that possible, and Kansai 2027 will be our greatest expression of that mission yet.”
In response to the incredible demand, the Organising Committee has worked hard to create additional capacity across a number of sports, and registrations for those disciplines are now open once again. They are committed to welcoming as many athletes as possible to Kansai and are actively exploring every avenue to accommodate the incredible interest they have received from masters athletes around the world. A few sports are still yet to be opened for registration as last details on venue and dates are being finalised.
This milestone is not just a number, it is a powerful statement about what masters sport represents: community, longevity, passion, and the belief that the best is not yet behind us.
We are excited to continue working hand in hand with the Kansai Organising Committee to deliver what promises to be the greatest World Masters Games ever staged. Check whether your sport is again open for registration and secure your place in history !
