World Masters Sport has issued the formal convening notice for the 2026 IMGA General Assembly, to be held online on Wednesday 25 November 2026.
The formal convening notice was sent to all members by email on 2 September 2026, in accordance with the IMGA Constitution. This publication is provided for transparency and ease of reference.
This General Assembly holds particular significance. Under the amended statutes adopted on 19 November 2025, it is the first elective General Assembly held under those statutes, at which a new IMGA Board will be elected.
Member federations are encouraged to review the notice in full. It sets out the positions to be elected, the eligibility requirements for candidates, and the key deadlines, including:
• 30 September 2026: deadline for candidature applications from IF Members
• 14 October 2026: deadline for Board-proposed candidate applications
• 25 October 2026: deadline for member proposals for the agenda
Two Board resolutions adopted on 23 June 2026 apply directly to this election, and members should read them before proposing candidates.
Resolution 2026.01 confirms that the Treasurer may be designated from among any elected Board member, whether elected from candidates proposed by IF Members or from independent candidates proposed by the Board. IF Members may therefore put forward a candidate for Treasurer. The requirement that the Board’s own slate include a candidate with adequate financial expertise remains in place.
Resolution 2026.02 addresses IF Members that do not have a formal Masters Commission. For those federations, the chair, head, or director who holds the equivalent senior position for Masters sport is eligible to stand as an IF Member representative. Federations relying on this must identify the equivalent position and provide documentation of the candidate’s appointment when they announce their candidate.
